TAMPA, FL (1 p.m. EDT, 05/02/12) General Conference 2012 has adopted a plan for restructuring The United Methodist Church. After a morning of debate, delegates approved an amended "Plan UMC" before breaking for lunch. It had been amended, by a vote of 608 to 338, to give Central Conferences approximately 30 percent representation on program agency boards and the proposed General Council for Strategy and Oversight.

Bishop Janice Riggle Huie, who presided during the second half of the morning, said following the final vote, "Frankly, my friends, it makes me proud to be a United Methodist, the way you've handled yourselves."
