We invite you to get acquainted with three new staff members at the United Methodist Center (Conference Center) in West Sacramento. Please welcome them as new members of the Conference team that works to support local churches – in our mission to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
Administrative Assistants Jasmine Johnson and Allison Oster have joined Office Coordinator Cindy Buna and Receptionist/Hospitality Specialist Becky Sheldon in the Districts Administration Center. They began work on July 16 and July 30, 2012, respectively.
Jasmine was born in Aurora, Colorado as one of four children (and the only daughter) in a military home. The family moved to Fairfield, California in 1991, where she graduated from Vanden High School. She studied psychology and criminal justice at Solano Community College and later obtained an associate's degree in Pharmacy Technology certification, as well as licensing for both Medical Assisting and Phlebotomy. Jasmine moved from Fairfield to Sacramento with her four-year-old daughter in 2010. She enjoys outdoor activities, traveling, volunteering in the community, and spending time with friends and family.
Allison is another outdoors enthusiast who loves to work out and says she runs, kayaks, and hikes when she has the opportunity. She also is an animal lover, who has two cats and three firebelly toads, and plans to start volunteering at the SPCA. Allison grew up in Pleasanton and has lived in Sacramento for 10 years. "I love it here!" she says, and adds, "I try to enjoy life the best I can and appreciate every day I have."
Toua Yang came on board today (Aug. 23) as the new administrative assistant to Conference Superintendents Linda Caldwell and Bener Agtarap.
Toua has lived in Sacramento for more than 10 years and formerly served as director of Youth Ministries at Central United Methodist Church in Stockton, where he worked with youth from both the Anglo and Cambodian congregations. He has a BS degree in Community Regional Development from UC Davis and an MBA from the University of Phoenix. During his leisure time, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Lei, and family. "We love to travel and hope to visit Europe and Asia within the next couple of years," he says. Other hobbies include hunting, fishing, tennis, and photography. Toua's interest in business led him to establish a tax preparation firm serving the counties of Butte, Sutter, Sacramento, San Joaquin, and Fresno. He also serves as a Board Member for Sierra Service Project. "I look forward to collaborating with all of you!" he says.
